My 1st Year Blogging
One year ago I published my 1st post on my blog after I had deleted the entire blog a couple of weeks earlier. I had only written 3 or 4 posts previous to deleting it and managed to retrieve them. I did repost these posts and back dated them.
It is hard to believe that I have been doing this for a year.
My Year In A SnapShot
I think I have come a long way over this past year.
my alexa ranking was in the millions or maybe the billions
I did not know any other bloggers
I had no idea how to comment on other bloggers posts
I did not know how to write a post as I had never written on before
I don’t think I had a Google page rank
I am sure there are many other things I could say but can not think of them
Today
My alexa ranking is 176,801 and has been as low as 132,000 or so.
I have many Blogging Buddies and am so glad that I have met them all. Many of my Blogging Buddies I consider my friends.
I know people all over the world and communicate with them on a daily basis.
I have written lots of comments and I figured out that writing a comment is not a hard thing to do
I have written 50 posts. My goal was 1 a week and I have come close to that.
My Google page rank is 2
This has been a great year. I feel like I have accomplished the goals that I set out.
Things I Have Learned
Back up my blog all of the time. I have only been blogging for about 3 weeks when in one click of the mouse I managed to delete my entire blog and it was not backed up.
Ask for help when I can not figure out how to do something instead of spending countless hours trying to figure it out on my own. Other bloggers tend to be very giving and helpful. I love running things that I can not figure out past fellow bloggers.
What to do when someone steals my blog content. About 6 months ago I realized that someone had stolen all of my content and it was the only new content on their blog. That was a really a feeling of being invaded.
Set goals and work until I have achieved them. I have jumped around in the past and that got me no where.
I am sure there are many more things I have learned but I will just stop there.
Year Two
In Year Two I want to continue to blog and meet new people. I have fallen down lately on my commenting and I really miss doing that.
I want to publish my 1st product. This is going to be a membership site about Blog Security. I am really excited about getting this product up and running.
I will continue to write one post a week when ever possible.
Thank You
Thank you to all of my Blogging Buddies who have come to my blog over the past year and commented.
Thank you to all of my readers who do not comment but are faithful to visit my blog and read what I am writing.
I look forward to this next year and everything that it will bring with it.
Leave Me A Comment
As always I love comments. Leave me a comment and just say “Hi” or let me know what you think of my 1st Year Blogging. I look forward to hearing from you.

Nice to meet you, fellow blogger. Guess I’m having a little celebration a few days from now. You guessed it, 1st year blogging for me too.
Like you I have learnt a lot, made mistakes, made assumptions, the whole shebang. Anyways. Congrats with your 1st year and many creative years ahead.

Jan,
Congratulations on blogging for a year.
I really think it is an accomplishment. There are lots of people that would not have stuck with something like this for that long.
If we can blog for a year consistently then I think we can do most anything. I am really looking forward to great things happening during my second year.
All the best to you in your 2nd year of blogging.
Thanks for stopping by.

Congratulations on your years achievements and all the best with your 1st product. A membership site on Blog Security I think will be quite the winner Dee Ann. And with your past experiences on that very topic – thieves, hackers and lost content – you’ll do well.
Again, well done Dee Ann, have a good week
Julie
Thank you. I am really excited that I have made it a year.
I am even more excited about the coming year and what I plan on accomplishing.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.

Happy anniversary Dee Ann and glad you’ve made it an entire year. Wow, doesn’t it seem like yesterday!
You sure have accomplished quite a bit since starting and I have no doubt that your second year will yield even more fabulous results.
I can’t wait until you have that first product up and running because it’s something we all need to learn more about. I know I do and I’m looking forward to that for sure. I’m so excited for you.
So here is to another year of blogging and meeting great friends. Oh and of course to your success!

Congratulations and Happy Anniversary Dee Ann!
Those are great achievements for the way things have been and you surely have covered up a great deal in this short duration. Great going indeed, and you need to give yourself a pat in the back for that.
I guess the journey we cover and all the things we learn along the way is what makes its all worthwhile – isn’t it?
It’s been a pleasure knowing you more the past few months and I’m sure you’re going to do wonders ahead too. Looking forward to learning more about your new product too.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Dee Ann,
Happy Anniversary and congratulations on achieving all that you have achieved. You blog so well that its hard to believe that you’ve only been blogging a year. Your journey is one that I have had the pleasure of watching and I think you’re going to have huge success online.
I think your posts are really helpful to other bloggers as they often detail things that we all need to know.
I congratulate you on the way you pass on your knowledge, not only for the successes you’ve had but also the hurdles you’ve overcome as well as the mistakes you’ve made. ie deleting your blog, however you prove that for every negative there is a positive to be taken from it.
Best of luck with your membership site, another hot topic that we all need to know about
I have no doubt that your second year will be far better than the first
Thanks Dee Ann, best of luck.
Barry
Barry,
Thank you so much for all of your complements.
I look back and remember the fear I had the first time I wrote a post for my blog and then the 1st time I commented on a post. I am pretty sure my first comment was on your blog and by the way there is one of your broken links since that was before I deleted my blog.
It has been a good year of meeting new friends and learning lots of new stuff.
I am really looking forward to another year that is just as productive if not more.
Thanks for everything Barry.

You did a lot better than I did in Year 1, Dee Ann, congrats! Question for you, and maybe an idea for a future post- I too have a Google PR of 2 and am looking to increase it. What are some of the things you did to get to a 2PR and what are you looking to do in the future to increase that number? OR, is it not that important of a number and hits, subscribers, and time on site (indicating compelling content I would think) more important? Thanks for the help and again, nice work.

Richard,
To be honest I have no idea what I did to get the PR2 Google ranking. It is a good idea for a future post however. I will keep that in mind.
I really think if you do what you should to have a good blog – original content, go comment on others posts, help others with your content – the rankings will just come.
Sometimes I get really frustrated with the rankings. I watch Alexa allot and the time that I lost ground by 100,000 I was greatly frustrated. It did not seem to matter what I did I still lost. I eventually gained it all back and then some but sometimes it is not what we are doing rather just that who ever is doing the rankings – Alexa or Google or whoever – is changing things and we drop back. If we just keep on doing what we should we will eventually move back up though.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Great point on focusing on continuing to keep doing what we’re doing and eventually we’ll improve our rankings. You can only control so much and one of those things is how you invest your time. Thanks for the thorough response; I’ll be on the lookout for a Page Rank post in the future.
Richard recently posted…Get Stronger AND Maintain Your Weight Class??
Richard,
I definitely will be doing a post on page rank shortly. I am always looking for things to do posts on that will be beneficial to my readers.
Thank you for the suggestion.
Take care

Hey DeeAnn
Happy anniversary and well done on achieving everything you have done in only a year.
Can’t believe it’s only been a year as you blog like someone that has been online for years!
I’m glad you decided to do a product on blog security as you’ve had a lot of experience with that that you can pass on to others so I’m really looking forward to it.
And it’s also good that your putting your goals down on your blog because thats fab for holding yourself accountable.
Well done misses and catch you on Skype tommorrow
Dawn
Dawn,
Thank you.
I can not believe it has been a whole year. That year just flew by.
I am really excited about my product and am making lots of progress on it now that I have the membership program figured out. Sometimes I think I have blinders on and if I could only get them off I would do so much better. I think the blinders fell off earlier this week and now I can see how that program works. Now I am moving again.
Looking forward to skype.

Hi Dee Ann,
Happy Anniversary to your blog! You sure have come a long way in a year and must tell you that you handled the roller coaster ride excellent!
You are a perfect example that life can throw curve balls at you and that things aren’t always easy. Having the will to stay calm and focused when things get hairy is a great quality to have.
It’s a pleasure knowing you Dee Ann, all the best in years to come. Catch you later,

Congrats Dee Ann
First year is the hardest (And the best) year. I remember going through my first year of blogging (Side note: I had started blogging in Summer 2009, so my first year was also in summer, the reason why I remember it so clearly is that because I got the most traffic during 2 months in which I didn’t blog at all).
Anyways, my first year taught me a lot of things (and I can see that the case is same for you). I am still learning, with my new blogs.
Best of luck with your 1st product, Dee Ann. Hope you have success with it

Hi Dee Anne.
I have a bit of catching up to do. I started my blog in July 2011. I have to say that I’m impressed. Your Alexa rank is something to be very proud of after just 1 year.
I thought I was doing well to get down to 380 000 in 7 months but now you have gone and raised the bar.
I too have made many friends and I see some of them here in your comments. Blogging is just great isn’t it.
I guess the only thing left to say is congratulations and I hope that the next year proves to be even more of a success.
