Reasons To Hire A Coach

Post image for Reasons To Hire A Coach

Blogging can be really intimidating to someone who is starting out. I know it was for me.

I had no one to ask questions of so I spent most everyday reading forums and posts on how to do the very simplest thing.

I was determined to do it all myself so I would know what was going on. That was a good idea I guess and I really did learn a lot by doing that but it also took me forever.

Actually I probably would have hired a coach if I could have found one to hire. Especially if it was someone who would show me what they were doing so I could learn how to do what they were doing. If I am going to do something I want to know what is going on. I don’t want it just done for me.

Hiring A Coach In The Past

Many times it was quite difficult to hire a coach when I started blogging.

There were not so many people out there who were doing coaching. Many of the people who were doing the coaching did not know much more than the people they were coaching. This is really frustrating when you are paying for coaching.

The rest of the coaches were Internet gurus and they were so busy doing everything else, many times they did not have the time to really do the coaching. Hence, their clients sometimes fell through the cracks.

Coaching was also very expensive so it was out of the price range of many people.

Hiring A Coach Presently

Today hiring a coach is much easier. There are many people who have been blogging for several years who are willing to share what they know.

Most of these people learned from the ground up so they are very experience in what they are offering to coach other people in. Their trial and error learning becomes a valuable resource to the person looking to hire a coach and learn about a particular area of blogging quickly.

These people are for the most part charging reasonable rates. They want to help other people learn how to blog and save other people from making all of the mistakes they made.

Why Hire A coach

1. The first reason to hire a coach is so you can get a blog up and running in a short period of time.

I think everyone needs to know how a blog is set up and what is going on with their own blog but figuring it out on your own is the hard, long and expensive way to do it.

A coach can set up a blog very quickly, then show you how they did it and answer all of your questions. This enables you to very quickly get to what blogging is really all about, which is writing posts and commenting.

2. Learn from someone who has made all of the mistakes and knows a lot of the tricks of the trade.

When learning you can either take the long way around or you can take a short cut. Personally I would much rather take a short cut any day. I am always looking for a faster / shorter way to do something or go somewhere.

Doing everything ourselves is like taking the black path in the image above. Hiring someone to help us is like taking the purple path. It is much faster and you learn as much or more by taking the short cut.

3. You get to know the person who is coaching you. This way you will know at least one other blogger. Through your coach you will get to know other bloggers and start to become involved in a blogging community.

The faster you get to know other bloggers and start to network the faster your blog will grow.

4. As you get your blog going you will most likely have more questions. Most coaches won’t mind answering questions even after your coaching is over or they will be able to direct you to another coach who can help you in the area you are struggling in.

If you are struggling with blogging don’t be defeated. Go out and hire a coach. If you do not know whom to hire then ask other bloggers. Most any blogger can guide you in the direction of a good coach who can help you through your blogging challenges.

Hi Dee Ann,

I definitely agree with you about coaches helping us save time. Like you, I wanted to do everything myself for 2 reasons actually. 1) I wanted to learn how this is done and 2) the information, coaches and programs weren’t as plentiful as they are today.

As you mentioned, most of the one-on-one coaching back when we started was really really expensive but I never found any that would help you get your blog us and running. Heck, if they did they sure wouldn’t show you what they did because they wanted you to be dependent on them. There are a lot of people that are still like that today.

I think it’s important to know the behind the scenes working of your blog. Even if you hire someone to take care of it for you that person could become ill or end up out of pocket and you’d be dead in the water. At least knowing what to do, even for just a short time until they’re back, is important.

I love that you offer that service and I also know that the clients that you’ve worked with so far appreciate it as well. I would have cherished having someone like you help me back then.

Thank you for all you do Dee Ann and have a wonderful week.

Adrienne,

I remember those days also. I would find this product that advertised it was going to teach you how to do something just like the person selling the product had done and look how much money they were making. You could make it as well. Just take this course and do what I did and you will be bringing in thousands in no time flat.

I did buy a few of these and usually figured out that what they were teaching us was not at all what they were doing. We were learning something they did not even do and had no idea if it would work which it didn’t.

There are still people out there do that but there are also a lot of other people who really want to teach what they have learn. These people were far and few between then but now there are quite a few.

Things are more reasonable now. I think it is due to competition. Before they could pretty much charge anything they wanted because there were only a few people do any type of coaching.

Even if you do hire a coach you still need to know what is going on with your blog because things happen unexpectedly and you may need to fix something yourself.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your comment.

Hi Dee Ann,

I do remember those days when hiring a blogging coach cost a pretty penny. Plus as I had hired one when I first started, I just went around in circles with this guy.

Now, it is a whole different story. A person that has been blogging for a while and made the mistakes, fixed them, learned so much and has always put out good content for other people can coach.

Why waste time? Hiring a coach to get started is the best decision one can make. Hiring you would be amazing.

Donna,

I know the feeling of going around in circles with a coach. The one guy that I hired and did that with, I sometimes thought I should be coaching him instead of him coaching me. I actually knew more about putting up a blog and writing content then he did and he was not cheap.

I really think today it is different. There are a lot of choices out there for hiring a coach and getting one that is recommended by people you trust is the way to go.

I have hired coaches since that guy that did not know what he was doing who were great and taught me a lot.

Thanks for leaving a comment. Have a great day.

Hi Dee Ann,

In the past I hired a business coach and while today I wouldn’t need his expertise, at the time it was vital. And yes, it was very expensive. In fact, it was more each month than my mortgage.

But, what I learned was priceless and has helped me to build on multi-million dollar company and put me on the road to another.

As a consultant and a coach, the one thing I love is helping those behind me learn to think about their business from a different point of view and then watching their business take off!

What makes you so awesome Dee Ann is that you’re a learner! You don’t expect your coach to do it for you. But you do expect them to teach you.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to work with you Dee Ann. You’re going to do some amazing things!!!

Have a great week!

Don,

You were an amazing coach. I learned so much from you when I was working with you. I think I kind of flaked out at the end. I was really supposed to get you another post to look at so we could go over it and I never did that. I have thought about that many times. I had learned so much in such a short period of time, I think I really needed to take what I had learned and go try to do it for myself so I could figure out just how to use what I had learned. Not sure I am writing great posts yet but am working hard at it. Thanks for ever thing you taught me.

The coaching experience with you was very different from my past coaching experiences though. I learned absolutely nothing from them.

I think this is why it is important to get to know the person who will be coaching you or at least know someone who knows them before hiring them. That way you get a good or great coach and your money is well spent.

Coaching is extremely important to move forward but it has to be good coaching.

Thanks for your comment and for stopping by. Have a great week.

Dee Ann
