What good is a backup if you do not know how to use it when your blog crashes or is deleted accidentally? So if you do not know how to use your backup this post is for you.
A while ago I did a post on how to backup your blog.
In this post I want to show you how to use the backup you made to restore your blog.
In the post on how to backup your blog I talked about several different ways to backup a WordPress blog.
Several of the ways to back up involved using WordPress plugins. If you are using a WordPress plugin to backup your blog, you will need to follow the instructions that come with the plugin in order to restore you blog from your backup.
In the post I did on how to backup your blog I included a video that showed you how to backup your WordPress blog manually using the cpanel.
I have included a video in this post that shows you how to manually restore your blog from the cpanel using the backups you made.

hi D Ann, nice job; great tutorial and very usefull. I recently had to back up my blog in order to transfer my domain to another host serice but it was quite simple cause I didn’t restore it myself to the new servers but the tech support did. So, I really learnt some serious stuff today.You answered my questions of mine.

I am glad that you found my post is useful. It is always nice to know what to do with a back up.
For a long time I would back up all of my stuff and never know just how to use the back up.
Some time ago I decided that I had better learn how to use the back ups. Then when I deleted my blog I decided that I had better start using what I knew how to do.

Yep, this is definitely important Dee Ann. Backing it up is one thing, reinstalling it is another. Great video tutorial for those of us who may need it in the future. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that I’m not one of them.

I will hope that you do not need to use any of this information also.
It is very gut wrenching when you need it because even if there is a back up it may not be completely up to date and then there is always the thought that it might not work.
I like this way of backing up and reinstalling because I think it is the most reliable.
I use plugins also but have had them fail.

Thank you for the complement. I am glad that you think I did a good job.
I am not really very good at making videos, guess I will get better. They turn out alright but only because I do them over about 20 times and by the time I get to the final version I have it so memorized that I get it right.
I do edit the videos but there are somethings that can not be edited out. So I am very pleased when some thinks I did a good job. Thank you.

But, if you do need to be sure you have regularly backed up your blog so you are prepared. I don’t want anyone else to ever feel the sinking feeling of knowing that their blog is gone and there is no way to get it back.

you know what ? This is looking to me a little bid complicated. I have Restored ones cross WP ..and it’s work too. But Cross my Server, never. With Databases … grrr… but anyway, it’s good to Learn something new. I have some questions about this: from where you have 3 .rar data in your PC ? One is your site, second and 3th was what ? How do you get it ? I mean on Wrdpr 1 and 2 which you extract later in your .php ! Because when we Export our Blog from WP, we get just one data (back up) WP, latest one.
And you know what ? You don’t have “Categories” in your Blog here, that we can find later your Posts and Videos ! I think that is very Important for site this. People like when they can find something in one pace or in one name, for example … I hope that you’ll put up Categories for us.

First off I put up a “Categories” if that will make it easier for you to find past posts and videos on my site. I want to make it easy for people to find what they want on my site.
Next, Your questions. Not real sure just what you are asking on some of them. I did a video earlier Oh My @$#%^&%#, I Just Deleted My Entire Blog!!! where I showed how to back up your blog using the cpanel for you hosting. You have to make 3 backups. One is the wordpress part of your blog and the other two are the two databases for your wordpress blog. If you are backing up with a plugin they will usually only have one backup.
Try going and looking at the other video and see how to make the backups then you can use those backups when you restore your blog.
If you have more questions let me know and I will try to explain it to you.
