See How Easily You Can Get More Traffic

Post image for See How Easily You Can Get More Traffic

Over the last 2 or 3 weeks a couple of events have taken place that got me thinking about another way to increase the traffic to my blog.

We all want to get more traffic to our blogs. I have done several posts on my blog that address different ways of getting more traffic to a blog. If you did not see them when I wrote them you can go back and read them now. 4 Benefits Of Commenting, I Published My Post, Now What?, and How To Use Attraction Marketing

This is another post on how to get more traffic to your blog but first what got me inspired to think about doing this particular activity.

2 Events

Barry Wells Holds A Competition

Barry and Steve King recently completed a product called Easy Auction Income a membership site full of videos and instructions on making money selling on eBay.

Barry and Steve held a competition on Marketing Mini Class where they gave away 3 memberships to their new product, Easy Auction Income, and Barry held a competition on his own site where he gave away one membership.

While reading and commenting on blogs I visited Barry’s blog and found his post announcing his competition. Since I was over a week late getting there I really thought that I had missed out. I left my comment anyway including everything I was asked to in order to win.

You can imagine my surprise when I won. I could not believe it.

I am so excited to get started using Easy Auction Income. I have tried to make money on eBay in the past and never really figured it out. Now I have a complete guide that will walk me though everything and I know where I can go to ask questions.

I have entered quite a few competitions and have actually won several. I am always surprised when I win.

Andy Bailey Is Giving Copies Of Comment Luv Premium To All Who Donate

I received an email from Andy Bailey the other day. He is offering to give a full lifetime license to CommentLuv Premium for free to anyone who donates more than £25 (GBP) to Movember.

What is Movember? Well it is an organization where men raise vital funds and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer and mental health.

If you are interested in donating and receiving a full lifetime license to CommentLuv you have to donate by November 22, 2013.

Here are the instructions from Andy’s email:
* Visit my Movember page donation page before Friday 22nd Nov.
* donate £25 or more with PayPal or credit card
* send me (Andy) your name, email and copy of your receipt (you’ll get a PDF sent by the site)

Now the really great thing about this is that Andy is willing to put the CommentLuv membership in anyone’s name that you tell him to. This means you can give the full lifetime license to CommentLuv away on your blog if you want to.

I am a couple of days late getting my post up this week so there is only a day or so left on Andy’s offer. I am sorry.

This is only one idea of something to give away though. There are lots of other things you can give away including a product of your own like Barry did. You can also try contacting a product creator and ask if they will give you a discount on their product since you are giving it away and promoting it in a blog post.

This Leads To…

These two things got me thinking that maybe I should have a competition on my blog. I could always use more traffic and it would be kind of fun to host a competition.

Competitions Lead To More Traffic

Competitions bring in more traffic especially if the reward is something that a lot of people want.

I would think a copy of CommentLuv Premium would be a great item to give away. I have not decided if I am going to get the copy of CommentLuv to give away yet but I am thinking I may have a competition when I release my product and give away a FREE copy of it.

What about you?

Have you ever hosted a competition? If you have how did it work out for you? If you have not is this something you see yourself doing anytime?

I would love to hear what you think.

Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.

If you find this post interesting or useful could you please share it with your friends. Thank you.

I have never done a contest but am really thinking about it.

Thanks for your comment.

Hey Dee Ann,

If you can believe this, I have not done a competition or giveaway on my blog yet. I’ve definitely thought about it but I didn’t really have anything to giveaway.

I think what Andy is doing is fabulous and I so admire him for doing this. It’s definitely a great cause and I would hope that anyone who does not have it yet will grab it ASAP while they still can.

I think giving away access to your product when you launch it is a great idea too and that can help you build that list even more girl. I think your product rocks as you know so anyone would be lucky to get their hands on it.

Great idea and thanks for this reminder Dee Ann. Have a great weekend now.

I know you have never done a competition. I find that amazing actually. You are doing really well with your traffic without a competition though. I think in the end the absolutely best way to get traffic to a blog is by doing what you do and that is give people great content, interact with them and get to know them.

I am planning on doing a competition when I release my product. I think it will be fun to do.

Take care and have a great day.

hi dee ann; thanks for giving me such a great idea. i have thought about doing give aways before but couldn’t come up with a good idea for what to use as a prize. I won’t be able to take advantage of the comment love offer, but i do plan to look into contacting some companies in the amusement field to see what kind of give aways we could do. wonder if i could give a subscription to one of the major trade publications or a coffee table book celebrating carnivals or circuses. and this week they are having the trade show for the international association of amusement parks and attractions. sadly i didn’t receive payment on my commissions in time to go myself. but i’m mentioning it because one of the inflatable manufacturers that will be there will be giving away a new bounce house with blower each day of the show. thanks for the great post especially your promotion of the testicular cancer site. And take care, max

I am glad that I gave you a good idea. I think a competition would be great on your blog. You already have some great ideas of what you can do with it.

I think you are in a tough niche but if you keep it up you will be very successful. Getting more traffic from within your niche may really increase with a competition.

Good luck and thanks for stopping by.

Hi dee ann; I always learn something from you the trick is figuring out how to apply it to your own niche. I am currently working on an interview with the owner of a party rental company from michigan. It will be my first. I hope to eventually step up to video interviews either in person or via Skype. but we agreed that for my first time through email would be best. I’m hoping to post it by the end of the week. will start brain storming on a competition or straight give away. thanks again and take care, max

Hey Dee Ann,

I actually have never hosted a competition before, but I see where you’re going with this. I believe it’s a great idea to execute.

Especially if you want to get more traffic coming to your blog.

It’s a great way to build your list and of course help those looking for your solution. It’s also amazing how many people that do not use commentluv. so this would definitely be a great kicker for you.

It’s also something I’m interested to use in the future. I already see the benefits of it, so why not put it to use! Thanks for sharing and I know everything will work out for you!

Hosting a competition is something that I don’t see a lot of people doing but the people who do it seem to continue so they must be getting results from it.

I think it sounds like something fun to do and have thought about it for a long time but have never done it either.

Thanks for stopping by and for your comment.

Hi Dee Ann

I’ve not done a competition on my blog but it’s something I’d consider for the future.

I had thought about getting a copy of CommentLuv Premium to give away too but I didn’t get around to it in the end. Did you decide to in the end?

I think it would be a great idea to give away a free copy of the product you’re launching though Dee Ann. That would create a lot of interest and traffic to your blog, I’m sure.

I did not get a copy of CommentLuv but I plan on giving away a copy of my product when I launch it. I did think hard about getting a copy of CommentLuv though. It would be a great product to give away.

Thanks for stopping by and for commenting.

Congrats on win, Dee Ann :)

Competitions are a great way to increase our traffic, but it depends upon how well the competition goes.

I think it all comes down to planning. I have hosted a few competitions in the past (I remember organizing a big one. Got a lot of sponsors, but in the end, I had to cancel the competition since I didn’t plan it well).

With planning (and a bit of creativity), competitions can earn us a lot of results :D

Anyways, thank you for sharing! I hope you are having a good weekend!

I can see that planning would be really important when holding a competition. I think you could get in over your head very quickly. I will definitely remember this for my competition when I hold it.

Thanks for your input and for stopping by.

Hi Dee Ann
I am actually in the process of doing a triple blog giveaway with a few other bloggers.
Your idea on comment luv is a good one, especially since they have had a little negative publicity of late.
I will let you know by years end how the giveaway went

That is exciting that you are holding a giveaway right now. I will be very interested in knowing how it went when it is over.

I thought that commentluv would make a great giveaway but there are lots of other options out there.

Thanks for stopping by and for your comment.

Hi Dee Ann

I can really see how this could work. Now you have got me thinking too. Well done on the win. I don’t often win things either so always get surprised when I do.

That is incredibly generous of Andy. Movember is a great cause. Ivan my husband is doing it right now.

Thanks for the ideas here Dee Ann.

I am always surprised when I win because the only place I have ever won is online. I have won a few really nice programs online though.

I thought that it was really generous of Andy to give away copies of CommentLuv like that. He is really a great guy.

Thank you for your comment and for stopping by.

Hi Dee Ann!

Thanks for sharing this. Yes, you are right. Competition helps increase traffic and of course, boosting free advertisements. Imagine the company is big and it helps you to ‘shout it out’.

Appreciate the write and definitely deserve a share on Reddit :)

*oh yes, happy (belated) thanksgiving!

Hi Dee Ann,

A competition on your site or blog … . For a long time it seemed rather scary to me. I always imagined that holding a competition on a site involves knowledge, resources and money.

However, now, after I saw the Easy Auction competition and the way they organized things, I am not so intimidated anymore.

Well, the moment I will have something to offer I will hold a competition on my blog, too.
Thank you for the idea.

Suggestion: Try to hold a competition when you launch your product or soon after that. It will surely bring a lot of traffic.

Have a wonderful day
